San Diego meeting of the Society of Concrete Petrographers, June 26th, 2018.
The Society of Concrete Petrographers’ held a well attend meeting on the Tuesday evening during the ASTM committee week held in San Diego, CA.
A series of short presentations and discussions were undertaken by Anol Mukhopadyay, Steven Stokowski, Nick Scaglione and Callie LaFleur on a variety of topics including the effects of reusing asphalt derived aggregate material, sulfate attack relating to pyrrhotite degradation in concrete, and mechanisms leading to various balling features in concrete.
Discussions briefly passed onto the bi-annual changes in the acting officers for the SOCP, with Ted Sibbick taking on the role of President, Daniela Mauro, Vice President, Anol Mukhopadhyay, Secretary and Jacki Atienza, Treasurer for the forthcoming 2 year period. These changes were followed by informal discussions of whether there was need for a financial subscription for those attending, and funding of the web page maintenance.
It is planned to revise the membership of the various sub committees at the next SCP meeting planned to occur during the ASTM committee meeting in December.
